Pilgrimage to the monastery at Taize, located south of Burgundy, France is a long-standing tradition of Christ’s Church Rye.

Each year, during mid-winter break, our high school kids, along with thousands of kids from around the world, trade in their lives as they know it, to live for a week in this Christian ecumenical monastic community.

In doing so they are invited to search for communion with God through community prayer, silence, personal reflection and working together, as they live in the spirit of kindness, simplicity and reconciliation.

A stay in Taizé can help one step back from daily life, to meet a wide variety of people and consider one’s commitment in the Church and in society.

Taizé is the highlight and anchor of our youth program, and each year our kids express unapparelled enthusiasm as they return to this amazing place.
